Wimbledon 2021: Roger Federer reaches fourth round for 18th time; Coco Gauff and Ash Barty make it to the top-16

8-time champion Roger Federer has entered the fourth round of Wimbledon for the 18th time. Apart from this, 17-year-old American player Coco Gough and world number-1 Ashleigh Barty have also entered the fourth round. Federer defeated Britain’s Cameron Norie 6-4, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 in the third round. This is also the 1250th victory of Federer’s career.

Federer easily won two sets in a row, but in the third set, Nori returned to beat Federer 7-5. However, Federer once again made a comeback in the fourth set and won the set 6-4 to seal his place in the fourth round. Now he will next face Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego in the pre-quarterfinals.

American player Coco Gough and World No. 1 Barty have also won their respective matches in the third round. Gough defeated Caja Juvne 6-3, 6-3 to reach the fourth round. Barty, on the other hand, continued her winning campaign in the tournament by defeating Katarina Sinikova of the Czech Republic in the third round. Gough easily won the first set 6-3, but faced a challenge in the second set, although she eventually reached the fourth round after winning this set 7-5.

World No. 1 and last-time winner Novak Djokovic defeated world 114-ranked American Dennis Kudla 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (9/7) in the third round. He has reached the fourth round of Wimbledon for the 13th time. This is also his 75th win at Wimbledon. He has reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the 55th time.
