Tokyo Olympics: Athletes get warm welcome as they return back to India; see pics

Neeraj Chopra, Ravi Dahiya, Bajrang Punia, Lovlina Borgohain and men’s hockey players of the Tokyo Olympics have returned to the country. All the athletes were given a warm welcome at the airport. The Olympic champions were welcomed with a bandwagon.

Crowds gathered to take a selfie with Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra. Apart from them, Lovlina Borgohain, Bajrang Poonia, Ravi Dahiya and Deepak Poonia also reached Delhi. The men’s and women’s hockey teams were also welcomed with a bandwagon. The women’s hockey team and Deepak Bronze missed the medal match.

A large number of fans were present at the Delhi airport to welcome the Olympic stars. The media was also waiting for the medalists with their gaze.

Meanwhile, when the news of the flight of the champions was received, people seemed to have completed their wait. However, all the players were taken out of the VIP gate by the security forces instead of regular arrival. Due to this, fans of Champions and the media also appeared a bit disheartened.

Neeraj’s mother Saroj Devi was desperate to see her son. As soon as Neeraj reached his mother hugged him. He welcomed the son at the airport by feeding him his favorite churma. Neeraj’s sister Sangeeta says that her brother has worked hard. Neeraj’s father also looked very happy.

RT-PCR and rapid antigen were done on all the players who returned from the Olympics at the Delhi airport. After this all the players left for Ashoka Hotel. The Olympic team will be formally welcomed at Ashoka. Officers from the Indian Olympic Association to the Sports Ministry are deployed to welcome the players. Arrangements for food and drink have also been made here for the players.

Indian men’s and women’s hockey teams celebrate at Ashoka Hotel. Both the teams cut the cake at the hotel. The men’s hockey team won the bronze medal. On the other hand, the women’s hockey team missed out on the medal. Great Britain were defeated 4-3 in the bronze medal match.

After reaching Delhi, Lovlina said that my dream was to return to India after winning a medal. It feels great to be here after so many days and meet people today. Will try to win gold in Paris 2024. On the other hand, Lovlina’s coach Shiv Singh said that the bronze medal in boxing is a commendable achievement. I hope we will win gold medal in future.

After reaching Delhi, wrestler Deepak Poonia said that it feels great to get your love, I thank the countrymen. I will prepare for 2024 and give medal to the country. This will be our victory celebration.

This time Indian players won 7 medals in Tokyo Olympics, which is the highest ever. Earlier, in the 2012 London Olympics, Indian players had won 6 medals. Neeraj Chopra has won the gold medal for India in the track and field event for the first time.

While Mirabai Chanu won silver medal in weightlifting and Ravi Dahiya in 57 kg weight in freestyle wrestling. On the other hand, Indian men’s hockey team, Bajrang Punia in 65 kg weight of freestyle wrestling, PV Sindhu in badminton and Lovlina Borgohain in boxing won bronze medals.
