Jaipur: Rohit Sharma, who made his India debut in 2007 under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid, recalled that moment and hoped that this new partnership would lead to more happy memories. From playing the first ODI against Ireland till now, Rohit has made his mark in limited-overs cricket. At the same time, Dravid, who was a great player, has played the role of a facilitator in preparing a new plant of Indian cricket as a coach. The two recalled that first meeting ahead of the T20I series against New Zealand starting on Wednesday.

Dravid said, “We were talking about this on the bus yesterday. How time flies with wings. I knew Rohit even before we were playing a Challenger in Madras.”

He said, “We all knew that Rohit was special. He was a very special genius. I never thought that after so many years I would get a chance to work with him. What he has achieved in all these years with the Indian team and with Mumbai Indians is commendable.”

Rohit said, “When I was selected in 2007, I got a chance to talk to him at a camp in Bangalore. There was very little talk and I was quite nervous. I could not talk so much to people of my age, so leave these people alone.

He said, “For the first time in Ireland, he told me that I was playing that match. For me, it was like a dream come true. A lot has happened since then. Those are all good memories and hopefully, there will be more in the future.”
