Priya Malik wins gold in World Cadet Wrestling Championship

India’s Priya Malik won the gold medal in the 73 kg weight category at the World Cadet Wrestling Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Indian girls won a total of 5 medals including 3 gold in this event. After Priya’s victory, some of her Indian fans misunderstood that she had achieved success in the Olympics.

Priya defeated the Belarusian wrestler 5-0 in the final. Apart from Priya, two more Indian wrestlers won gold and two wrestlers won bronze medals. Tannu won gold medals in 43 kg and Komal in 46 kg. On the other hand, Varsha won the bronze medal in 65 kg weight and last won the bronze medal in 53 kg weight. In this championship, India finished second overall in the girls’ category. The American team finished first and the Russian team third.

Players between the ages of 15 and 17 can participate in the cadet. The World Cadet Championship in wrestling includes 10–10 weight categories.

Mirabai Chanu won the country’s first medal in weightlifting at the Tokyo Olympic Games on Saturday. He won a medal in weightlifting at the Olympics after 21 years. Prior to him, Karnam Malleswari won the bronze medal in weightlifting for the country in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

The wrestling event in Tokyo is to begin on August 1. This time 7 wrestlers from India are participating. Medals are expected from Vinesh Phogat in women and Bajrang Punia in men. Apart from Vinesh, Seema Bisla, Sonam Malik and Anshu Malik are participating. While in men, apart from Bajrang Poonia, Deepak Poonia, and Ravi Kumar Dahiya are participating.
