Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly, has confirmed that the Indian cricket team will visit Sri Lanka in July. Where India will play a series of three ODIs and five T20 matches against Sri Lanka.

The BCCI president said that the Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will not be included in this series against Sri Lanka. This means that in this series, the youth will get full opportunity to show their power.

“We have planned a white ball series for the senior men’s team during July, where they will play T20 Internationals and ODIs in Sri Lanka,” said Sourav Ganguly.

The BCCI president has indicated that the team will be picked in an attempt to solve the selection puzzle ahead of the T20 World Cup to be held in India later this year. In July, India will play five T20 Internationals and three ODIs against Sri Lanka.

India’s tour of England will end on 14 September. After this, there is also the possibility of IPL. At the same time, the World Cup is going to start in October. Before this, the Indian team will be ready for selection.

The BCCI source explained the reasoning behind the tour, saying, “The BCCI president is very keen that all our top players are ready for the match and since England do not have a white ball in July, they used it well May go.”

The source further stated that technically, in July, none of India’s senior teams is playing matches. So India’s white-ball experts are not getting some match time. Because of which the selectors would have difficulty in resolving the team selection.
