New Delhi: The first match of the 2-match Test series between India and New Zealand ended in a draw after a tight match. Now the eyes of the team will be on winning the second Test match to be held in Mumbai. Even though Team India has not been able to live this match, but despite this, coach Rahul Dravid won everyone’s heart with a statement.

Dravid’s statement won hearts

India head coach Rahul Dravid praised the bowlers for taking nine wickets against New Zealand on the final day of the Kanpur Test here on Monday. He further said that the pitch did not challenge the batsmen on the last day. Therefore, the last pair of New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel managed to draw the match against India.

Dravid said in the post-match press conference, ‘I think you expect a little different from the pitch in Indian conditions during the fifth day, but nothing like that happened. In this game, you have to take catches to win, but I think apart from Bharat, it felt like the opponents can only be bowled out or lbw.’

The players did a good job

Dravid said, ‘Despite this, I think we have done a very good job in getting nine wickets on the last day. I have played in Kanpur before, but this pitch was very slow, I have not experienced this before. Usually, on the fifth day, the pitch helps you, but nothing happened, it was really difficult to get the players out.’

Dravid praised the team saying that the players performed well, although the pitch disappointed them, the players played with restraint. Also, both the teams showed a great game in the match.

First Test left on the draw

The first match of the two-match Test series between India and New Zealand ended in a draw. Team India lost the golden opportunity to win. In Kanpur’s Green Park, the last batsman of the Kiwi team, Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel showed amazing restraint and did not let the last wicket fell. New Zealand scored 165 runs in their second innings for the loss of 9 wickets, Rachin Ravindra 18 and Ajaz Patel remained not out for 2 runs, due to which the match was drawn. Indian bowlers tried their best but failed to give victory to their team.
