New Delhi: West Indies bowled Bangladesh for 213 on the fourth day of the second Test to win the match by 17 runs thanks to the superb bowling of off-spinner Rakheem Cornwall (105/4). With this, the West Indies made a clean sweep 2–0 in the two-match Test series. After being bowled out for 117 runs in the second innings, the West Indies gave Bangladesh a target of 231 runs to win, in response to which Bangladesh was all out for 213 runs in the second innings and faced the shame of a clean sweep at home. This is the first Test series win since 2017 on the overseas ground of the West Indies.
Tamim Iqbal scored the most 50 runs
Bangladesh’s second innings opener Tamim Iqbal scored the most 50 runs. For West Indies, Cornwall took four wickets for 105 runs, Jomel Warrican took three wickets for 47 runs and captain Kraigg Brathwaite took three wickets for 25 runs.
Mehdi Hasan’s attempt did not succeed
In the Bangladesh innings, apart from Iqbal, no other batsman could play big innings. In the end, however, Mehdi Hassan tried very hard to give the team victory in a quick inning but could not succeed. Bangladesh batsmen failed to form an even larger partnership.
Bangladesh lost by three wickets in Chittagong
Apart from Iqbal from Bangladesh, Hassan scored 31 off 56 balls with three fours and two sixes, captain Mominul Haque 26, wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das 22, Mushfiqur Rahman 14 and Naeem Hasan scored 14 runs. Earlier, West Indies beat Bangladesh by three wickets in the first Test match played in Chittagong and took a 1-0 lead in the series.
