New Delhi: Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma looked disappointed after losing to Chennai Super Kings by five wickets in the opening match of Opening. He clearly said that his batsmen could not perform well. Rohit said – none of our batsmen did the same for us as Du Plessis and Rayudu did for CSK. I think we were 85 for the first 10 overs. Credited to CSK bowlers, he bowled well in the end. Although it is early days there was a lot for us to learn. We all want to start really well, it wants to play an important role in this tournament. We made some mistakes with this game but got to learn from them as well.
Rohit said- Hopefully, we will rectify mistakes and be smarter in the next game. People expect better performance from us. We know this. I hope things get better soon. We need to adapt to the pitches, they will get better after the dew. You need to hit the gap and focus on that part of the game. The opposition can attack you. It needs to understand what we need to do.
Let us know that Mumbai Indians had scored 162 runs in 20 overs before playing. For Mumbai, De Kock scored 33, Saurabh Tiwari scored 42 runs. Chennai started off to play in response. Murali Vijay and Shane Watson were out early. But Faf du Plessis and Ambati Rayudu won the team by playing half-century inning.
