New Delhi: Due to the second Monday of the month of Shravan today, a large number of devotees are reaching Baba Mahakal for darshan since morning. However, devotees could not attend Mahakal Baba Bhasma Aarti due to Corona’s guideline.
Baba Mahakal’s doors were opened at 2:30 am today and Bhasma Aarti started after Panchamrit Abhishek. However, only a certain number of Pandit and Priests were present here. Shravan month is considered to be the most loved month of Lord Bholenath. It is believed that worshipping Lord Shiva in the month of Shravan gives immediate relief from all sufferings.
On the second Monday of Shravan, a special devotional aarti of Baba Mahakal was performed at Mahakaleshwar temple today. Prior to the Bhasma Aarti, Baba was bathed with water and anointed with great power in which milk, curd, ghee, honey and fruit juice were anointed. After Abhishek, Bholenath’s attractive makeup was done with hemp and sandalwood, then Baba was burnt to ashes. After being consumed, God was put on clothes and then Baba’s ashes were performed with cymbals, drums, drums and shankhanad (Sound of a Conch shell).
Although more than 2,000 devotees attend the Bhawan Aarti of Sawan month every year, this time there is a complete ban on the participation of devotees due to the Corona epidemic. Common devotees will be able to see Baba only from the distance of Mahakal. The time for darshan has been fixed from 5:30 am to 9:00 pm. During this time, only those devotees who have booked for darshan in the past will be able to have darshan. Mahakal temple committee has arranged for 10,000 devotees to have darshan daily in the month of Sawan.
