Mathura: There is a Diwali-like atmosphere in the country after Ram Janmabhoomi Pujan, but there will be silence in the city of Shri Krishna on Janmashtami. Like previous years, this time Krishna devotees of the country and abroad will not be able to reach Mathura. In fact, keeping in mind the Corona epidemic, the administration has banned public events and programs on Krishna Janmashtami in the district.

District Magistrate Sarvagyaram Mishra said that after the talks with the temple administration, it has been decided to keep the Sri Krishna birthplace closed for devotees from August 10 to 13. On the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami to be held on August 12, worship will be done inside the temples as per tradition.

According to the decisions taken after the meeting with the representatives of the major temples, the temple priests and managers on Krishna Janmashtami must also follow the guidelines/protocols of Covid-19. Social distancing, masks etc. must be used compulsorily during the worship of the temple. Also, a sanitizer will have to be arranged.

It is worth mentioning that in the Sri Krishna Janmashtami Mahotsav, lakhs of devotees come not only from the surrounding districts but also from different provinces. Compliance of social distancing will also not be possible due to the gathering of huge devotees of devotees in this festival, which is likely to spread the epidemic, which will not be in the interest of public health. In such a situation, the district administration has prohibited any public event.
