New Delhi: After his party’s poor performance in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections 2021, Mahendran R is an MNM candidate from the Singanallur constituency has tendered his resignation. Along with this, he further claimed that MNM President Kamal Hassan was being misled. Tell you that Actor Kamal Hassan’s party failed to win a single seat in the recently concluded assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. Even the actor-turned-politician himself faced defeat from BJP’s Vanathi Srinivasan from Coimbatore South.
Srinivasan defeated MNM founder Kamal Hassan by 1728 votes. Sharing the four-page letter on his Twitter, Mahendran said that he is leaving the party with clear thinking and determination. He said, “I have attached the reason for this! My heartfelt thanks to party president Kamal Hassan and all the central leaders who gave me political interest and encouragement.”
With a heavy heart but a clear mind, I am resigning from the post of Vice President and as a Primary Member of the Makkal Needhi Maiam party. I have listed down all the reasons that have compelled me to take this tough yet moral decision. pic.twitter.com/4dsOB5KVXs— Dr Mahendran R (@drmahendran_r) May 6, 2021
Mahendran said in his letter that the leader he knew would always give preference to the ideals on which the MNM was built. Let us tell you that the DMK coalition has got a clear majority in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, after which their government is going to be formed. At the same time, the alliance of AIADMK and BJP has suffered a heavy defeat. Kamal Hassan had also fielded his candidates in the elections, but his magic could not prevail on the people of Tamil Nadu and he could not win his candidate in a single seat. Even Kamal could not win his seat.
