Kolkata: Mukul Roy has left the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and once again joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC). West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has announced this while holding a press conference on Friday afternoon. She said that Mukul Roy is our son, he has returned home.
‘I will tell you the reason for returning home later’
At the same time, Mukul Roy said, ‘I am happy that I am back in the old party. Bengal wants to return to its position, and we will lead it. During this, Roy also targeted the BJP and said, ‘The situation in Bengal, no one will remain in the BJP.’ However, when our correspondent Ankit Sharma asked Mukul Roy the reason for joining TMC again after 4 years, he said, ‘I will tell the reason for my homecoming later.’
‘No place for traitors in TMC again’
Earlier on Wednesday, senior TMC leader Saugata Roy had indicated that Mukul Roy would return to the party. He had said, ‘Mukul Roy may have left TMC and joined BJP but he never said anything against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.’ However, on Friday, there has been a formal announcement of Roy joining TMC. But Mamata Banerjee made it clear that the traitors will not get a place in the party again.
Left TMC in 2017
It is worth mentioning that Mukul Roy had left TMC and joined BJP in the year 2017, and before the Legislative Assembly elections held in the state this year, he was being told an important role in getting many TMC leaders to join BJP. But after the election, there were reports of Mukul Roy’s ‘disillusionment’ with the BJP. According to information received from sources, when Mukul Roy and his wife came under the grip of corona infection, BJP leaders did not take their search for a long time. But later when Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee came to meet her, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Mukul Roy on the phone. However, at that time Roy had dismissed these reports of the tweet and called himself a soldier of the BJP.
