New Delhi: A 25-year-old junior resident doctor of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, jumped from the tenth floor of a hostel on Friday leading to his death. Police gave this information.
They said that the deceased has been identified as Anurag and that he was a junior resident doctor in the Department of Psychology. A senior police officer said that Anurag used to stay in the doctor’s hostel and allegedly at five in the evening he jumped from the tenth floor of the hostel.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said, ‘He was taken to AIIMS Casualty where he died. Orders have been ordered to investigate the matter. According to sources, the doctor was suffering from depression.
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan wrote in a tweet- ‘I am shocked and distressed to hear about the painful death of Dr Anurag Kumar, Junior Resident, young and most talented in AIIMS Delhi. He was undergoing treatment for severe depression for some time and he killed himself. Condolences to his family and his colleagues.
