Mumbai: Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide by hanging himself on Sunday. Since then, pictures of his dead body have become viral on social media. In view of this, the cyber cell of Maharashtra Police has issued a warning. On behalf of the cyber cell, it has been said that legal action will be taken against those who share the photo of Sushant’s body.
The cyber cell of Maharashtra Police has objected to the social media of photographs of Sushant Singh’s death. According to the police, the photos are insensitive and such pictures are against the legal rules and the court’s instructions. Police have written in this regard on its official Twitter account, ‘It has come to notice that disturbing photos of deceased Sushant Singh are being shared on various social media platforms. We appeal to people not to do this, the photos which have been shared before should also be removed immediately. Sharing such pictures is against the law and court directions and action can be taken against those who do so.
On May 20, 2020, Maharashtra Cyber Police issued notice to some users for posting objectionable, derogatory and malicious posts on social media under Section 149 of CRPC. It was said on behalf of the police that doing so is an offence under the Information Technology Act, IPC and the culprits will have to face severe punitive action.
