New Delhi: Onion stuck consignments at ports may be given some exemption from export restrictions. Sources in the Directorate General of Foreign Trade / DGFT informed this on Friday. Sources said that DGFT has probably given instructions to the customs department to approve the cargo which has reached the port. However, no such instructions have been given for stranded cargo.
However, there is some confusion among exporters regarding exemption from restrictions and its basis. One businessman said, “We are uncertain whether all cargoes reaching the ports will be allowed to export or only those cargoes that have received Late Export Order (LEO)”.
