The Holy month of Ramadan is always special for everyone. But this year, Ramdan 2020 will always be remembered by everyone. This Ramadan month is different from all of the times as it’s quite challenging and unique. As we’re in the Islamic year of 1441 Hijri, Ramadan 2020 is followed up with the fight against Covid-19 and lockdown. Muslims during the Holy month follows up with Roza (Fasting), Namaz (Praying), Zakat (Charity) with full faith towards the Almighty God.

People always believe in doing Zakat (Charity) during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The famous Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah in Delhi is always up with doing arrangements for the needy. The Dargah Sharif is closed down due to lockdown as they are following the lockdown from day 1. The committee of Dargah Sharif is supporting the government’s fight against Covid-19.

Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah’s committee is providing Iftari (food) to needy people at their doorsteps.

This year’s Ramadan 2020 is very challenging and different from every year. Due to Covid-19, everything is locked down even religious places are also following this. The public is not allowed inside the Holy Shrine, only Dargah Sharif’s committee members are allowed inside and they also follow steps of social distancing, wear masks and sanitise themselves.

We had a word with Syed Anis Nizami, the Head in charge of Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah, he told us that Dargah Sharif is strictly following the lockdown from day1 and has been shut down for the public. Only three people at one are allowed there to offer prayers every day inside the Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah and take care of the Holy Shrine. All these are members of the Dargah Sharif’s committee and follows social distancing properly. They do sanitize themselves and the whole Dargah Sharif is being sanitized properly.

He also told us that Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah always feeds up to over 4000-5000 people during the normal days and food is being prepared in the courtyard of the Dargah Sharif for the people and pilgrims. This year as no Iftar tents are being set up during Ramadan, charities across Delhi are endeavouring differently to help the needy amid the pandemic situation. The Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah’s committee is providing the Iftari (food) with proper hygiene to the doorsteps of the needy people.

Meals to the migrant labourers are being arranged and are delivered to them. Whatever is possible the Dargah committee is doing that for helping them. Food is being distributed with the following proper social distancing and is packed carefully cleanly and hygienically.

Syed Anis Nizami, also told us that they are doing their best to provide meals, food to the needy people at their doorsteps after they were closed to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Packages of vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals are being delivered to everyone in nearby areas.

The Sufi Saint, Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia (R.A) used to feed the poor and needy people without any discrimination and even now thousands are given food every day in Dargah’s courtyard to continue his legacy. People of all religions come here to pray and they have full faith in the Sufi Saint as they get what they seek from the Lord with the help of The Sufi Saint. The doors of Dargah Sharif are shut down for the public but we’re trying to do best we can to continue his legacy and this year we’re not spending any amount on buying new things for EID as we’ll be using that amount for doing something for the needy and we’ll pray from home to the Almighty God for ending this pandemic situation soon. I ask every Muslim to follow this and stay safe, he added.
