Varanasi: Opposition was constantly raising questions about the silence of Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani regarding the Hathras incident. The Union Minister was on a visit to Varanasi on Saturday. Here she gave his first reaction to the Hathras scandal. She described the incident with the Dalit girl as extremely painful and said that she had full faith in Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath that he would do justice to the victim’s family and the culprits would be punished for their actions.
Smriti Irani said that due to her constitutional decorum she does not interfere in the matter of any state, but she has spoken to CM Yogi Adityanath on the Hathras incident. The Chief Minister has formed the SIT. Action has been taken against the CO and others with the SP on the initial report. Let the SIT report come, after which Yogi Adityanath will take strict action against those who have interfered or those who have conspired for the victim to get justice.
About Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka coming to Hathras, Smriti Irani said, “Rahul and Priyanka have always strived for politics. But PM Modi has been successful in national policy. I think the people of the country have fully understood the tactics of Congress. If any leader wants to do politics in any subject, then I cannot stop him. But the public understands that the journey in Hathras is for their own politics and not for the justice of the victim.”
Targeting the Congress, the Union Minister said, “The Congress made a special comment for me yesterday that I should have given a statement against my country in the United Nations. I want to tell you that I went there not as a minister but as an Indian. Congress wanted me to speak against my country, for me, such a fantasy is nothing short of the national anthem. The opposition has its own dignity. Ever since I travelled to Amethi, I knew that I would be his target for my whole life.”
