DGP Gupteshwar Pandey took VRS before Bihar elections, can start political innings


Patna: Before the Bihar Assembly Election 2020, there has been a big upsurge in the state. DGP of Bihar Gupteshwar Pandey has taken voluntary retirement (VRS). The Governor of Bihar has approved his VRS. It is being speculated that now Gupteshwar Pandey can start political innings.

According to sources, Gupteshwar Pandey’s NDA candidate can contest the Bihar Assembly elections. The 1987 batch IPS officer Gupteshwar Pandey’s term is going to expire after five months. He is counted among officials close to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. According to the information, he was made DGP of Bihar on 31 January 2019. Gupteshwar Pandey’s tenure as the state’s Director General of Police was to be completed in February 2021.

1961 Gupteshwar Pandey was also born in Gerua village, a small village in Buxar district. After passing the first class in class 12, Pandey enrolled in Patna University. He completed his studies from Patna University. In 1986, he was selected for the IRS. At that time, he was not satisfied with this job, after which he again took the UPSC examination and became an IPS.

In 31 years of service, Gupteshwar Pandey has worked as ASP, SP, SSP, DIG, IG, ADG in 26 districts of Bihar. Gupteshwar Pandey was in the news since the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

He also questioned the Mumbai Police’s investigation into the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. Gupteshwar Pandey was also opposed to the manner in which the behaviour of the Mumbai Police was done with the team of Bihar Police.
