Chamoli: Glacier has been reported to be broken in Sumna, China border area of the district. BRO commander Manish Kapil has left for Moke. In the Sumana area, BRO workers are engaged in road construction. Commander Kapil said that information is being collected for whether the workers have suffered any loss or not. At the same time, Chamoli Superintendent of Police Yashwant Singh Chauhan has denied the information of any such incident.
In the Malari valley of Chamoli district, snowfall has been reported near the China border. Road construction work is going on in the area. At present, nothing has been known about the damage. A team of Border Roads Organization (BRO) from Joshimath has left for the spot. Due to the incessant rain and snowfall, the team may take time to reach here. There is no population in this area and only the movement of the army remains.
The incident is about 90 km from Joshimath in a place called Sumna. The last outpost at the border is reached through Barahoti. Being a remote area, there is no communication network here. Chamoli District Disaster Management Officer Nandkishore Joshi said that the team under the leadership of BRO commander Manish Kapil has gone to the spot. He informed that the work of road construction is going on in that area. In such a situation, there is a possibility that some workers may get trapped there. He said that the area has been snowing intermittently for a week, while snow has been falling continuously for two days. It is natural to take time in this situation.
