New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed deep condolences on the demise of former President Pranab Mukherjee and described him as an outstanding scholar and a high-profile politician. Said that he will never forget his “knowledgeable advice” on major policy issues.
Modi said in a series of tweets that when he became the Prime Minister in the year 2014, he was completely new in the politics of the Center and at this time he got the guidance of Mukherjee. Modi said that Mukherjee left an indelible mark on the development path of the nation.
He said that the whole country is upset at the demise of Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee. He has condolences to his family, friends and his fans and supporters across the country.
Let us know that Mukherjee, who has been in public life for five decades, was ill for the last few days. He was admitted to Army Hospital in Delhi Cantonment on 10 August. On the same day, surgery was done to remove the blood clots that had frozen in his brain.
After this, Mukherjee had a lung infection. On Monday evening, he breathed his last at the Army’s Research and Referral Hospital in the capital Delhi. He was 84 years old.
The Prime Minister also shared some of his pictures with Mukherjee. In one of these pictures, he is seen saluting by touching Mukherjee’s feet. He said that during his decade-long political career, Pranab Mukherjee made long-term contributions to key ministries like economic and strategic.
PM Modi said that he was an outstanding parliamentarian, who was always ready. He was a great orator as well as an answer person. He said that as President of India, he made the common man’s access to Rashtrapati Bhawan easy. Mukherjee made Rashtrapati Bhavan the centre of knowledge, innovation, culture, science and literature.
Let us tell you that when Mukherjee became the Prime Minister of the country for the first time, Mukherjee was the President. Despite being from opposite ideologies, there was such a synergy between Prime Minister Modi and President Mukherjee that it became a nationwide discussion point. Mukherjee visited the headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh after the presidential term ended and was awarded the Bharat Ratna last year.
Before becoming President, he was a member of Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest policy-making unit of the Congress for 23 years. During this time he also played the role of a troubleshooter for the party. Pranab Mukherjee was the 13th President of the country from the year 2012 to 2017.
