Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Raja Mahendra Pratap University and Defense Corridor during his visit to Aligarh on Tuesday. During this, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present. PM Modi also addressed a public meeting in Aligarh and said that today is a big day for Aligarh and western Uttar Pradesh.

PM Modi remembers Kalyan Singh

PM Narendra Modi remembered former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh in Aligarh. He said, ‘I am feeling very much the absence of Late Kalyan Singh Ji today. If Kalyan Singh Ji was with us today, Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh would have been very happy to see the new identity of Aligarh being created in the State University and Defense Sector.

‘India of the 21st century correcting the mistakes of the 20th century’

PM Modi said, ‘From the life of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh Ji, we get to learn the indomitable willpower, the vitality that goes through anything to fulfil our dreams. How many such great personalities expended their everything in our freedom movement, but it was the misfortune of the country that after independence, the next generations of the country were not acquainted with the austerity of such national heroes and national heroines. Many generations of the country were deprived of knowing their stories. Today the 21st century India is rectifying those mistakes of the 20th century.

PM Modi praises Yogi Adityanath

During the address, PM Narendra Modi praised UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath fiercely. He said, ‘The people of UP cannot forget what kind of scams used to happen here, how the governance was handed over to the corrupt. Today Yogi Ji’s government is sincerely engaged in the development of UP.

Those running mafia raj are behind bars- PM

PM Modi further said, ‘There was a time when the governance and administration used to run on the arbitrariness of goons and mafia, but now the extortionists, those running the mafia raj are behind bars.’ He said, ‘I am very happy to see today that the UP which was seen as a hindrance in the development of the country, the same UP is leading the country’s big campaigns today.’

PM Modi’s visit is very important politically

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Aligarh in western Uttar Pradesh is politically significant due to the next year’s Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections. Through the foundation stone of Raja Mahendra Pratap University, BJP is eyeing the Jat voters of western UP.

BJP’s attempt to reach western UP

Now less than 6 months are left in the UP Legislative Assembly Election 2022. Since the farmers’ agitation that started last year, the BJP has been facing the fear of losing its support base in western UP, as the farmers of western UP have a big role in the farmers’ movement. In such a situation, through the Aligarh tour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will try to reach western UP. Even though you may find fewer people telling about Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh in the whole country, but in western UP there is a lot of discussion on his legacy. BJP’s effort is to bring the youth together through Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh University on the one hand and the other hand reduce the resentment of the Jat community.

Who was Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh?

Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh was the king of Hathras. Due to the Jat community of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh, he is highly respected in western UP. Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh travelled for the independence of India in 20 to 25 countries to awaken the light of independence. He lived abroad for 31 years 8 months and returned to India in 1946. Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh donated 60-70 per cent of his wealth from Bulandshahr to Aligarh, Hathras and Vrindavan to educational institutions. He even donated land for Aligarh Muslim University. However, his works were suppressed in history. He had donated two and a half acres of land for Aligarh University, but there is nothing in his name in AMU.

University to be built on 92 acres

Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh State University will be built on 92 acres. It will cost about Rs 101 crore to build it. 395 colleges of Aligarh, Kasganj, Hathras and Etah will be affiliated with this university. After the formation of this university, the students of the Aligarh division will get the benefit of higher education.

What will be the benefit of the Defense Corridor?

A part of the Defense Corridor being built in UP will also be in Aligarh, whose foundation will be laid by PM Modi. Weapons that meet the security needs of the country will be manufactured in the Defense Corridor to be built here. Small arms, drones, parts used by the Air Force and anti-drone systems will be made in Aligarh. Here 19 companies will invest Rs 1245 crore. With the formation of the Defense Corridor, new avenues of employment will open for the youth of western UP.
