After the killing of sadhus in Palghar, Maharashtra, another dreadful incident has come to light. An Indian Navy jawan was kidnapped and burnt alive, a navy soldier died during treatment due to burns.
It is being told that the 27-year-old man named Suraj Kumar Dubey, who was a resident of Ranchi, Jharkhand, Suraj was posted in INS English in Coimbatore. According to the information, Suraj was returning from a holiday on January 30, when he was abducted from outside Chennai airport.
Palghar police spokesman Sachin Nawadkar said that Dubey was a resident of Ranchi and was posted on INS pioneer in Coimbatore.
According to the preliminary investigation, Dubey was returning from leave on January 30 when three people kidnapped him outside the Chennai airport at around 9 pm fearing gunfire and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh. Police said that his body was burnt to 90 per cent, he was being taken to Naval Hospital in Mumbai but died on the way.
The officer said that Dubey told the full story in his deposition before death. A Navy spokesman said that Dubey was on leave at the time of the kidnapping incident and was found in a 90 per cent burnt state at Palghar on Friday. He was brought to the Naval Hospital INHS Ashwini, where doctors declared him dead.
A police spokesperson said that police are taking further action by registering a case against three unidentified people, including murder and other charges.
The miscreants demanded a ransom of 10 lakhs, and Suraj Kumar was killed by taking them to the forest of Vevji area of Dahanu Talasari, Palghar, after not getting the money.
The miscreants sprinkled petrol on the sun and burnt it alive. Before the death, Suraj had told the police that the kidnappers had kept him in Chennai for three days. When the ransom was refused, the kidnappers on Friday morning tied him hands and feet in the forest near Gholwad and burned him alive. Sooraj was going to get married recently.
