Lakhimpur Kheri Violence: Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi meet victims’ families

Congress MPs Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra reached Tikunia village of Lakhimpur Kheri late on Wednesday night. Here the Congress delegation met the families of the farmers killed in the violence. Rahul and Priyanka first reached Chowkaghat in Palia. Here he met the family of martyr farmer Lovepreet (20). Seeing Lovepreet’s parents, both of them hugged their chest.

After this the Congress convoy reached Nighasan. Rahul and Priyanka met the family of journalist Raman Kashyap (30) here. The Congress leaders then went to the house of martyr farmer Nakshatra Singh (65) of Ramandin Purwa village of Dhaurhara. It is being told that Congress leaders can go to Bahraich tomorrow. He will meet the family of Daljit and Gurwinder here. Along with Rahul and Priyanka, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, MPs Deepender Hooda, KC Venugopal, Randeep Surjewala are also present.

Priyanka told the media that our struggle is nothing ahead of the struggle of these farmers. The victim’s family should get justice. Administration should arrest Union Minister’s son Ashish Mishra at the earliest.

Earlier, after leaving Lucknow, Rahul met Priyanka Gandhi directly after reaching Sitapur Guest House. They stayed here for about half an hour. After this both the brothers and sisters left for Lakhimpur to meet the farmers. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and BSP leader Satish Chandra Mishra will also visit Lakhimpur on Thursday.

On the other hand, Congress leaders Sachin Pilot and Pramod Krishnam have been kept in police custody at Circuit House in Moradabad. Both the leaders were trying to reach Lakhimpur by road. They had entered Uttar Pradesh via Ghazipur border via Delhi in the morning itself.

The administration has approved 17 vehicles in Rahul-Priyanka’s convoy. Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel also left Lakhimpur with both of them. Congress leaders Deepender Singh Hooda, Randeep Singh Surjewala, KC Venugopal and Ajay Kumar Lallu have gone to Lakhimpur to meet the farmers’ families.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi staged a sit-in at the airport itself. Even after getting permission from the administration to go to Lakhimpur, there was confusion about Rahul’s dharna. After this, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that he would leave the airport only after getting permission to go in his trains till Lakhimpur. After a long time, the administration gave its permission. After this Rahul Gandhi, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi left for Lakhimpur.

He will be accompanied by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal and party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala to Lakhimpur via Sitapur. It is being told that both will go to Lakhimpur Kheri together with their convoy by road. Rahul will first go to the house of the journalist killed in the violence and then visit the farmer’s house.

Rahul Gandhi had reached Lucknow from Delhi on a regular passenger flight. From here he was to go to Lakhimpur along with Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. During this, the incident of Rahul coming and being present at the airport continued for about an hour.

Priyanka Gandhi, who was going to meet the relatives of the farmers killed in Lakhimpur Kheri in UP, has been released 24 hours after her arrest and has also got permission to go to Lakhimpur. Priyanka was arrested on Tuesday after being taken into custody in Sitapur on Monday morning. Priyanka has targeted BJP through social media. He has said that those who oppress the farmers are roaming freely. The BJP government is imprisoning the voices of justice for the farmers, but we will not let the voice of justice be suppressed.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has met Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra in Delhi amid the uproar over the incident of violence in Lakhimpur Kheri. Mishra’s son Ashish is accused of crushing farmers with a car in Lakhimpur Kheri and the opposition is demanding that Ajay Mishra should be removed from the post of minister. When the journalists questioned Ajay Mishra, who reached Delhi, that the opposition is asking for your resignation, he went ahead without saying anything. However, it is being said in media reports that the resignation of Ajay Mishra will not be taken. At the same time, sources say that his son Ashish may be arrested soon. Farmer organizations are continuously demanding this and due to the pressure of the farmers, the government can take action.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi holds a press conference in Delhi on the violence during farmers’ protest in Lakhimpur Kheri. During this, he targeted the UP government as well as the central government. He has said that farmers are being crushed in UP and action is not being taken against the accused.

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘For some time the farmers of India are being attacked by the government. One, the farmers are being crushed under the jeep. He is being murdered. Talking about the Home Minister of BJP, his son is being talked about. No action is being taken against them.

Ajay Mishra Teni, father of accused Ashish Mishra and Union Minister of State in Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, has said that his son was not in the car. The driver was injured in the attack on the car and the car went uncontrollably and climbed on the people present there. My condolences to those who lost their lives. There should be a fair investigation in this matter. Teni has also clarified on the viral audio in which he is purportedly telling the farmers.
