Cyclone Yaas: Strong winds and rains begin in Bengal and Odisha, NDRF alert

Kolkata: The impact of cyclonic storm Yaas has started appearing in Bengal and Odisha. Strong winds and rains have started in the states. At the same time, many teams of NDRF are on alert mode.

Cyclone Yaas started moving northwest after turning into a cyclonic storm. The Meteorological Department had already told that the effect will start in Odisha and West Bengal from today. Rains have started with strong winds in many areas. Home Minister Amit Shah recently held a meeting with Orissa, Bengal, Andhra CM and LG of Andaman, regarding the cyclone ‘Yas’ and directed the hospital to ensure power backup.

At the same time, 10 more NDRF teams were deployed in West Bengal given Cyclone Yaas. A total of 45 teams are deployed in the state.

Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a review meeting to prepare for dealing with Cyclone Yaas and directed people to reach safe places.

Given the Cyclone Yaas storm, the movement of the ships of the port of Kolkata has been completely stopped. The work of transporting people to safe places is going on. At the same time, the Odisha government has deployed 22 teams of NDRF, 50 teams of ODRF, 35 tree-cutting teams. The Meteorological Department has placed Cyclone Yaas storm in the severe category. That is, winds will move at a speed of 155 to 165 kilometres per hour as soon as the storm hits. Which can cause a lot of havoc.
