New Delhi: A big news has come for the victims of depression. For the first time, researchers have designed a blood test that can detect depression. This blood test has been launched by the Indiana University School of Medicine, USA. Psychiatrist and geneticist Dr Alexander Niculescu, who is leading the research, has said, ‘Our study shows that it is now possible to detect depression and bipolar disorder through blood tests. With this, a difference can be made between the patients of these two problems and they can be given the right medicines based on their disease.
Will get great help in treatment
Dr Niculescu said that due to this test, the era of trial and error that has been going on for years will end. Because patients are given different types of medicines due to lack of proper diagnosis of the disease, they also had to stay in hospitals to deal with the side effects caused by them. Since these are common disorders, now we will be able to treat them easily by detecting them properly. We have also developed many other tests and apps to help in this.
Using 15 years of research
To develop this test, researchers studied the biological basis of mood disorders and were successful in developing a tool that could identify different types of mood disorders. Like to differentiate between depression or bipolar disorder. To develop this test, Niculescu and his team used research experiences and observations from the past 15 years. So that they can find out how psychiatry is related to blood expression biomarkers.
Depression affects even blood
According to Niculescu, every system of the body, whether it is the brain, nervous system or immune system, all have the same way of developing. In such a situation, when you are in depression or depressed, whatever hormones are released affect your blood and even the immune system. Let us tell you that this test is now available for Physicians in the name of the CLIA Test.
