New Delhi: India is joined by its old friend Russia in the middle of the conflict on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Galwan Valley. In a virtual meeting of foreign ministers of India, Russia and China on Tuesday, Russia strongly supported India’s permanent membership in the UN Security Council.

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that today we talked about the problem of reform in the United Nations and India is a strong nominee for permanent membership in the United Nations. He further said that we support India’s candidature.

Sergei Lavrov also mentioned the ongoing tension in Ladakh along the Line of Actual Control with China during this period and said that he does not feel that any third party needs to be interfered with. He said that we hope that the dispute between the two countries will be resolved peacefully.

Let me tell you that this is not the first time that Russia has supported India for permanent membership in the Security Council. This statement of the Russian Foreign Minister came at a time when tension is going on between India and China on the Ladakh border.
