Britain: There has been a confrontation between foreign Pakistani and Kashmiri separatist (nationalist) organizations in the UK over the Kashmir issue. Both groups protested fiercely in front of the Consulate General of India and Birmingham office on Saturday (15 August) on the new map of Kashmir in the UK. Kashmiri nationalists have accused the pro-Pakistan group of giving ‘Pakistani colour’ to the ‘Swadeshi’ Kashmir movement.

Outside the office, protests by the British Kashmir group have taken place under the leadership of Raja Qadri, Altaf Hussain, Hasan Khwaja and Khadim Hussain. Shah Nawaz of the PPP (Pakistan Peoples Party) represented foreign Kashmiris in Birmingham and voiced their support. During the protest, the people of Shah Nawaz group raised objections by shouting slogans like ‘Foreign army go back from Kashmir’, forcibly break, leave Kashmir. On the other hand, nationalists objected to the PPP-led group raising slogans at the behest of Pakistan.

Significantly, about two weeks ago, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan released a new map of the country during a meeting. In the new map of Pakistan, some areas of India have also been claimed. Actually, in this new map of Pakistan, Ladakh, Siachen of Jammu and Kashmir, including Junagadh of Gujarat have been declared as their own and this was informed by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan himself.
