New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on the telephone on 3 May with European Commission Chairman Ursula von der Leyen and thanked him for support from the 27-nation-bloc. PM Modi and the President of the European Union Commission also discussed the India-EU Leaders Summit, which is scheduled to be held with the Prime Minister on 8 May, expressing confidence that it will give a new impetus to the strategic partnership. PM Modi also thanked von der Leyen for helping the European Union to India
The statement said that the meeting of the India-EU leaders will be the first meeting in the EU + 27 format and reflects the shared ambition of the two sides to further strengthen the India-EU strategic partnership.
A special flight from Belgium arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on May 2 with a consignment of 9,000 vials of RemCidWire after a special flight from Belgium a day after the Prime Minister’s telephone conversation with the President of the EU Commission. In addition, on May 1, France received eight oxygen generator plants, including 28 tons of medical equipment, which the country termed as a “solidarity mission” to help and promote India’s fight COVID-19.
