The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) held an emergency meeting on Monday on the situation arising out of the Taliban occupation in Afghanistan. In the meeting, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that I urge all parties, especially the Taliban, to exercise restraint to protect people’s lives and ensure that humanitarian needs are met.

This is the second meeting of the Security Council in the past week. Guterres said- I appeal to all countries to accept refugees. The international community must unite to ensure that Afghanistan is never again allowed to become a safe haven for terrorist organizations.

The statement of the Ministry of External Affairs has come on the incident in Afghanistan. India has said that we are closely monitoring the incident in Afghanistan. We will take every step to protect our citizens. We know that there are some Indian nationals in Afghanistan who want to return and we are in touch with them.

We appeal to every Indian to return to India immediately. We are also in constant touch with the representatives of the Afghan Sikh, Hindu communities, those who want to leave Afghanistan will be given full facilities to bring them to India.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s big statement has come about the Taliban. Imran said on Saturday that after years, the people of Afghanistan have got freedom. The Taliban has broken the chain of slavery. When the time comes, he will recognize the Taliban government in accordance with international consensus, ground reality and the national interests of his country. Earlier, Pakistan has decided not to close its embassy in Kabul. Imran Khan is the first prime minister to praise the Taliban on the recent situation in Afghanistan.

Today they are seeing the fruits of 20 years of sacrifice and struggle. Thank Allah that the war is over now. We do not want to be isolated and we want peaceful international relations. We do not want to harm anyone and we will not allow anyone to use our land to target others.
