148 Indians deported from England in one and a half year
According to the Government of India data, a total of 148 Indian nationals were deported from the UK between January 2018 and July 2019. These people were deported based on illegal entry into Britain. In addition, the UK immigration authorities/Home Office has obtained emergency travel documents from the Government of India (HCI) for over 1574 additional Indian nationals who have been granted illegal entry/status after the Corona restrictions are normalised. The basis will be deported. Government sources say that we are waiting for the deportation figures from July 2020 till now.
Will bring fugitive to India: Ministry of External Affairs
The Ministry of External Affairs had said on June 3 that India stands by its resolve that the fugitives are brought back to the country and all efforts will be made to bring back Mehul Choksi, wanted in the fraud case. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, “Mehul Choksi is currently in custody in Dominica, where some legal processes are going on. We will continue all efforts so that he (Choksi) is brought back to India.
Mehul Choksi was arrested on 23 May
Mehul Choksi had recently escaped from Antigua and Barbuda and was arrested on May 23 for allegedly entering the Caribbean island nation illegally.
