New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh left for Russia on Monday amid the ongoing tension over the LAC. Defence and strategic partnership are expected to be discussed between the two countries during the three-day visit. The Defense Minister will attend the Victory Day Parade held in Moscow. The parade is taking place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Germany in the Second World War. The parade was earlier scheduled to be held on May 9 but was postponed due to the Coronavirus epidemic.
Before leaving for Russia, the Defense Minister tweeted, “During the visit to Russia, there will be talks to further strengthen the defence and strategic partnership between India and Russia. I will also attend the 75th Victory Parade Day in Moscow.”
Russian Ambassador Nikolay Kudashev tweeted, “I wish for a safe visit to India’s strategic partner Rajnath Singh, who is leaving for Moscow on Monday, where he witnesses the Great Victory Day military parade on 24 June. Will be made.”
Defense Secretary Ajay Kumar has also gone with Rajnath Singh. India may pressurize Russia to expedite delivery of the S-400 Triumph anti-missile system.
