New Delhi: On the sidelines of the military parade in Moscow, there will be no bilateral meeting between Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and his Chinese counterpart Wei Fenghe. A senior official told about this on Tuesday. Singh has gone to Moscow on a three-day tour to attend the military parade on Wednesday to mark the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Germany in World War II.

China’s Defence Minister Wei Fenghe is also expected to participate in the parade. A Chinese media report said that Wei and Singh are participating in the ceremony in Moscow and that there is a possibility of a meeting between the two over tension on the border in eastern Ladakh.

When asked about the news of Chinese media, Defence Ministry spokesman Bharat Bhushan Babu said, “Our Defence Minister will not hold a meeting with the Chinese Defence Minister. “

The defence minister’s visit to Russia comes at a time when tensions between India and China have increased. Officials said that deadlock is going on along the border with China but Singh has gone on a tour due to India’s decades-old military relations with Russia.

Special relationship with Russia
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that the India-Russia relationship is a ‘special and special strategic partnership’ and the existing military contracts between the two countries will remain intact and many cases will be taken forward in a short time. Singh said that this visit to Moscow is the first foreign trip of any Indian official delegation after the Covid-19 epidemic.

Addressing reporters here, the Defence Minister said, ‘India-Russia relationship is a unique and privileged strategic partnership. Our defence relationship is one of its important pillars.’ Singh discussed bilateral defence ties with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, who had come to meet him at the hotel despite the sanctions of the epidemic.

The Defence Minister said, ‘The discussion between the two was very positive. I have been assured that the ongoing contracts between the two countries will be upheld and not only upheld but will be extended in a short time on many matters. All our proposals have received a positive response from Russia. I am completely satisfied with the discussion.’

He said this by pointing to the timely delivery of S-400 missile defence system to India by Russia.
