New Delhi: The pressure of patients in hospitals has reduced due to reduced corona infection. In the next few days, the number of corona patients admitted to hospitals will decrease even further. Due to this, the discussion has started on re-starting OPD service in other hospitals including AIIMS. OPD is also running in Safdarjung, RML and Lady Harding Medical Colleges. OPD did not stop completely even during the peak of corona infection at these three hospitals. It is expected that from the second week of next month, OPD service will also be started in a phased manner in large hospitals of AIIMS and the Delhi Government. Initially, the number of patients treated for OPD will be less prescribed. Apart from this, routine surgery can also be started in hospitals in June.
AIIMS first stopped OPD and routine surgery on April 8 when the corona infection started in the second wave. A few days later, OPD and routine surgeries were stopped in many other government hospitals including Loknayak, GTB, Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty (RGSS) Hospital. Routine surgeries are also closed in Safdarjung, RML and Lady Harding Medical Colleges. Now the situation in hospitals is better than before due to less infection. A senior doctor of AIIMS said that a decision can be taken on starting OPD service next week but OPD service can start from the second week of June.
