Timeline: From Aryan Khan’s arrest to bail, know what happened in Mumbai drugs case

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan has finally got bail in the Mumbai drugs case, which became the most high profile case in the entire country for the last 27 days. Aryan was in jail since October 3, after which he has been granted bail by the court today. If you are missing some things about this case, then through these points we are telling you what happened in this high profile case from October 2 till now.

October 2 – Based on late night tips, NCB raided a cruise going from Mumbai to Goa. Found cruise drugs here. NCB detained Aryan Khan, Munmun Dhanecha, Arbaaz Merchant, Vikrant Chhokar, Nupur Sarika, Ismeet Singh, Mohak Jaiswal and Gomit Chopra for questioning.

October 3 – The accused were produced in the court in the early hours. The court sent Aryan Khan, Munmun Dhanecha and Arbaaz Merchant to NCB remand.

October 4 – Appeared again in court. The NCB sought extension of the custody of the accused under the apprehension of being linked to the international racket, the custody was extended till 7 October.

October 7 – NCB again sought extension of remand. The court denied and the accused were sent to judicial custody for 14 days. The defense filed a bail application for the first time.

October 8 – Defendant disappointed, bail plea rejected. All the three accused including Aryan were sent from the custody of NCB to Arthur Road Jail.

October 9 – Defense again files bail plea. This time it was argued that drugs were not found from Aryan and he was wrongly accused. The hearing was adjourned till 11.

October 11 – Hearing on bail again. The defense appealed for an early hearing on bail. But the court was closed without any concrete result.

October 13 – Hearing on bail plea in Sessions Court. Aryan’s lawyers put forth their arguments and said that Aryan comes from a reputed family, no drugs have been found from him and there are no serious allegations. Give him bail, when needed for interrogation, Aryan will come.

October 14 – NCB also put forward its arguments before the court. The NCB said that the matter is serious, the accused may tamper with the evidence after going out. Action has been taken against the accused under sections 8-c, 20-B, 27 and 35 of NDPS. The arguments of both the sides came to an end and the court reserved the decision on bail till October 20.

October 14 – Aryan Khan and other accused were shifted to the general cell after being removed from the special quarantine cell of Arthur Road.

October 20 – NDPS court sits again after five days’ holiday, Ananya Panda’s name pops up from Aryan’s WhatsApp chat.

Judge VV Patil, in a 21-page order, dismissed Aryan’s bail plea at 2.45 pm. The court said that after granting bail, Aryan will not commit these crimes again, there is no such guarantee.

NCB called it the victory of truth. Desperate defense moved the High Court later in the afternoon.

October 21 – The High Court hears the bail plea and adjourns the case to October 26. On the other hand, NCB went to Shahrukh Khan’s house Mannat and did the paperwork. Actress Ananya Pandey has been called for questioning after her name appeared in Aryan’s WhatsApp chat.

October 26 – Aryan Khan’s lawyer former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi presents his arguments in the High Court. The court’s time was over after which the hearing was adjourned for the next day.

October 27 – After lunch hearing begins in Bombay High Court in which Arbaaz Khan’s lawyer Amit Desai and Munmun Dhanecha’s counsel put their arguments before the court. On this day NCB did not get a chance to present its side and the time of the court was over. Because of this, the court kept the further hearing for the next day.

October 28 – NCB presented its 8 arguments in the court, after which Aryan Khan’s lawyer Mukul Rohatgi presented 2 arguments. After which the court gave its verdict and Aryan Khan got bail.
