Mumbai: Before becoming an actor, Amitabh Bachchan was the son of Harivansh Rai, a well-known poet of Hindi literature. Poet Harivansh Rai is known for his contribution to selected genres in Hindi literature. But how did Bachchan associate with Amitabh when his caste name was Rai?

Amitabh told a contestant about his caste in his show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati.’ Amitabh asked the female contestant about her love life in which she said that she and her husband belonged to different castes. Due to which he had a lot of problems in marriage.

After marriage, the family members of Pratibhaagi did not adopt them. To date, they did not talk to them that Amitabh Bachchan became emotional after hearing this anecdote because his parents’ marriage was also inter-caste. She also had to face struggles after marriage.

Poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, i.e., Amitabh Bachchan’s father was a Hindu Kayastha. The same his mother used to come from a Punjabi Sikh family. Amitabh Bachchan said that there was a lot of trouble in the marriage of his parents too. But later, the family agreed. Nevertheless, his babuji took such a step to end this distinction, ending his caste discrimination. Amitabh Bachchan said that when he went to the school to enroll him, he was asked the school what his surname was.

In such a situation, his father put his surname in front of Amitabh. He said that his surname is ‘Bachchan.’ While fulfilling his point, Amitabh Bachchan said that, by keeping the name Bachchan, his father wanted to erase the distinction of caste because there is no sense of caste in the name of Bachchan.

Let us tell you that the poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan had added the Bachchan surname to his name, which Hindi litterateurs often did in that period. Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a poet of the Chhayavad branch of Hindi literature, and his creation ‘Madhushala’ is still considered a classic in Hindi literature. In this composition, he has described Madhu, i.e., alcohol.
