OTT Platform – Sony Live

Huma Qureshi starrer political drama web series ‘Maharani’ has been released. This can be seen on the OTT platform Sony Liv. It was being discussed a lot with the release of the trailer of the web series. The story of this series of 10 episodes revolves around politics. It was said only after the release of the trailer that it was inspired by the story of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s wife Rabri Devi becoming the Chief Minister. Although the makers described it as fictitious.

What a story

Bihar’s political betting has been shown in the series. Soham Shah plays Bhima. He is declared invalid after an assassination attempt after which Bhima takes an unexpected step and names his wife Rani as chief minister. The Maharani is illiterate and yet her husband kept her out of the public eye.
Huma Qureshi is seen delivering some amazing dialogues with a great way of pronunciation in the Bihar language.

What’s missing in the series

After watching ‘Maharani’, in many places it seems that there is a lack of writing. Rani’s life comes with sudden rapid ups and downs. Episode 4 shows a ‘scam’ without any ends. In the fifth episode, a ‘Baba’ arrives. Only then do you feel that you are getting bored with your ‘Maharani’.

How is acting

The responsibility of the web series is completely on the shoulder of Huma Qureshi and she seems to play it in the best way. In some places, there is also a difference in the pronunciation of Huma, where she says both ‘school’ and ‘iskul’. The director can be held responsible for this. Talking about the rest of the cast, Amit Sial has done a great job. He is in the role of Bhima’s political rival.

Should watch or not?

After ‘Scam 1992’, ‘Maharani’ is the big show for Sony Liv. It seems to be forcibly drawn several times in every ten episodes of about 45 minutes, which could have been better if shortened a bit. If you are interested in shows based on politics, then you may like it. Barring a few shortcomings, it can be seen to spend time.
