New Delhi: Schools and colleges across the country have been closed since 5 months due to Coronavirus now. With Unlock 3.0 ending on 31 August, it is expected that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) may soon decide on the reopening of schools under Unlock 4.0. Guidelines are also likely to be issued by the end of this month.

Under Unlock 3.0, the Ministry of Home Affairs had allowed the reopening of gymnasiums and yoga institutes and said that the educational institutions would remain closed till 31 August.

As August expires, guidelines are being prepared for Unlock 4. However, some reports suggest that educational institutions will be opened in a phased manner. This is because maximum security and precautions can be taken. This means that students of all sections of a particular standard will not go to school on the same day.

Since March 3, educational institutions are closed due to Corona epidemic, which is having a profound impact on children’s education. Although the government had instructed all schools and colleges to start online classes, it could not prove to be effective especially due to lack of proper system and availability of smartphones in the rural areas.

At the same time, parents are demanding a concession in fees due to the lockdown affecting their lives, but no concession has been given in the fees as well.

Metro likely to re-open

The Centre is finally likely to allow resumption of Metro services, which has been shut since March 22, from September 1. Officials have said modifications are still being worked out in consultation with ministry of housing and urban affairs, local governments, Metro rail corporations and security agencies.
