New Delhi: The battle for medical practice that broke out between the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Yog guru Ramdev has now landed on the legal ground. On Saturday, Patanjali Yogpeeth dismissed the IMA’s allegations that on behalf of the medical association it was said that Ramdev misled people by making ignorant statements against allopathy and maligned scientific medicine.
Baba Ramdev’s alleged statement was condemned by the Indian Medical Association and now the association has also sent a notice to Ramdev. Referring to a video circulating on social media, the IMA said that Ramdev is saying that “allopathy is such a stupid and bankrupt science…”.
The Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust in Haridwar issued a statement saying that Ramdev “highly respects” the doctors and medical workers who work day and night in such a challenging time of the epidemic. It said that he was “reading a forwarded message he received on WhatsApp to him and several other members participating in the program.”
Patanjali said this in the statement
In a statement signed by Acharya Balakrishna, general secretary of the Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust, it said, “Swami Ji has no wrong intention against those who practice medicine with modern science and modern medical practice.” Whatever accusation is being made against him is wrong and meaningless. “
Earlier, the IMA had said in a statement that the Union Health Minister should take action against Ramdev as he misleads people by making “ignorant” statements against allopathy and scientific medicine.
