CHANDIGARH: Punjab Government employees who fail to take even the first dose of Corona Vaccine due to any reason other than medical will be compulsorily sent on leave after September 15.

This drastic step was announced by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Friday to save the people of the state from the pandemic and ensure that those who have been vaccinated do not have to pay the price for someone else’s indifference. In the virtual Kovid-19 review meeting, the Chief Minister said that the effectiveness of the vaccine is clear from the data being analyzed. Special efforts were made to reach out to government employees and those who continue to avoid vaccination will now be asked to go on leave till the first dose is received.
‘Situation under control in schools’
School Education Secretary Krishna Kumar earlier informed that at present only fully vaccinated staff members are allowed to come to the schools. Health Minister Balbir Sidhu suggested that the second dose gap for school staff be reduced to 28 days, but Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan told the meeting that the Center had rejected the state’s request. The Chief Minister said with satisfaction that with aggressive testing, the situation in schools has been under control. The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction that the vaccine stock supplied to the State has been utilized without any wastage.
