New Delhi: Coronavirus infection is continuously increasing in India and thousands of patients are dying every day. Meanwhile, it is being claimed on social media that the central government has prepared to fight a decisive battle against the corona infection and to break the chain of infection, a complete lockdown can be imposed for 21 days across the country. Along with this, it is also being said that the responsibility of handling the situation during lockdown can be given to the army instead of the local police.
Will the government impose lockdown in the entire country?
Amid increasing cases of Covid-19, the question is whether the central government will impose a lockdown across the country to prevent infection. When asked this question, Dr VK Paul, member of NITI Aayog and Chairman of Covid-19 Taskforce, responded openly. He said that the central government has given guidelines regarding lockdown to states to break the chain of infection.
Guidelines were released on 29 April
VK Paul said, ‘When the virus infection increases, the public movement is banned along with other measures to break the chain. On this, a guideline was issued on April 29, in which instructions were given to the states to prevent infection. He further said, ‘States were told that we should stop the transmission and night curfew should be imposed in areas where the infection rate is more than 10 per cent. However, the decision has to be taken by the state governments. In addition, social, political, sports, religious programs are banned. Shopping complex, a cinema house, restaurant, bar, sports complex, swimming pool, religious place etc. have been instructed to be closed.
Lockdown in Kerala from 8 to 16 May
Given Corona’s rise in cases, the Kerala government has now announced a lockdown. The lockdown has been imposed in Kerala on May 8 from 6 am to 16 May. During this period, only essential services will be exempted. Describing the situation as serious, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that more stringent steps will be taken to prevent infection.
4.12 new cases and 3980 deaths in 24 hours across the country
According to the Union Health Ministry, 4 lakh 12 thousand 262 people have been infected with Coronavirus in India in the last 24 hours, while 3980 people lost their lives during this period. After this, the total number of corona infected in India has gone up to 2 crores 10 lakh 77 thousand 410, while 2 lakh 30 thousand 168 people have lost their lives.
Active cases in the country exceed 35 lakhs
According to statistics, 1 crore 72 lakh 80 thousand 844 people have been cured by Kovid-19 across the country so far. However, in the last few days, the rate of recovery has come down and it has reached 81.99 per cent. With this, active cases are increasing continuously and 35 lakh 66 thousand 398 people are being treated across the country, which is 16.92 per cent of the total number of infected people.
