New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer and Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Chetan Chauhan has been found to be Coronavirus. Late Saturday, former Indian cricketers Akash Chopra and RP Singh shared information and wished Chauhan to recover soon. Aakash Chopra tweeted that Chetan Chauhan has also been found positive for Covid-19. Wish to recover them soon.

At the same time, RP Singh wrote, ‘Just heard that Chetan Chauhan has been found positive for coronavirus. I wish them a quick recovery. Please tell that Chauhan was tested coronavirus on Friday and this 72-year-old former cricketer has been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi PGI Hospital in Lucknow.’

Chauhan’s family members will also undergo a Covid-19 test and currently, they are kept in isolation at home. In the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, Chauhan has the Ministry of Military Welfare, Home Guards, PRD and Civil Defense. Chauhan, a former Lok Sabha member, is one of the few former international cricketers who have been infected with the virus.

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi and Scotland’s Majid Haq have recovered from the disease after being found infected. Chauhan scored 2084 runs for India in 40 Tests between 1969 and 1978. During this time he averaged 31.57, while the best score was 97 runs. He also scored 153 runs in seven ODIs. The opening pair of Chauhan and Sunil Gavaskar were quite successful. The two had a century partnership in the 1970s and scored more than three thousand runs together. Chauhan scored a lot of runs in domestic cricket playing for Delhi and Maharashtra.
