New Delhi: While the world has spent billions of rupees to buy the Corona vaccine, on research work and to deal with the virus, the Indian government is currently considering an agreement to purchase the vaccine. At the same time, one thing is clear that after the development of Corona vaccine around the world, the Government of India will buy 500 million vaccine doses. The data came to light after a closed-door meeting of Indian high officials with members of the Indian Vaccine Association on Thursday.
E-Biological Hyderabad informed the government that after entering the second phase of the trial, it signed an agreement with J&J for the production of undeclared quantities of vaccine. Representatives of Bharat Biotech, Zydus-Cadila and Serum-Oxford University also participated during this period. These members under the Department of Biotechnology, Council for Biotechnology Industry Research (BIRAC) and P.M. Task Force Chairman Dr V.K. Met Paul who would assess the amount of production from the government.
During this time the vaccine manufacturers told the government that they have the capacity to manufacture a total of 3 billion vaccine doses in a year and India can take 20 per cent of this production for its consumption. India is a large vaccine producer with a capacity to produce 3 billion vaccine doses by 7 major manufacturers. At the meeting, the producers wanted to know how much quantity the government wants to buy through the Center and the states.
Right now only 4 vaccines are in the third phase of the trial and they will start production and use on a large scale only after getting approval from various regulatory organizations of the world. After this, P.M. The task force gave a clear message that India may need 40–50 million vaccine doses. He said that India had not made any commitment for the procurement in advance, while the United States, Britain, European Union, Switzerland and Japan have committed to purchase the drug by giving $ 5 billion to the world’s companies.
