Bangalore: Karnataka Congress president D K Shivakumar alleged that the state government has instructed all hospitals to reduce the Covid-19 test by 50 per cent to show fewer cases of corona infection in the state.
He said that this is similar to killing civilians on behalf of the government.
The Congress leader said that an ICMR report said that the test should be speeded up. But the government has asked hospitals to cut the test by 50 per cent. More testing means more awareness among people. It is not correct to reduce the corona probe number to show fewer cases.
Shivkumar said that the government will get full support of his party on issues like saving the lives of people, but mistakes and wrong decisions will not be tolerated.
At the same time, Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai denied the allegations of Shiv Kumar, saying that the government has not reduced RT-PCR tests. Earlier, testing was done in public places including railway stations and bus stands. It is now closed due to lockdown.
