New Delhi: Ayurveda has a cure for every minor disease. From cancer to surgery, Ayurveda has shown its impact. In an epidemic like Corona where no exact treatment has been found so far, Ayurveda is being resorted to. The corona treatment can be possible with the help of this ancient medical system of India. We are not saying this, but this is the claim of scientists of IIT Delhi and Japan.
Research by IIT Delhi and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) of Japan has found that ashwagandha and propolis, the honeycomb-collected gum, contain ingredients that can help treat corona.
The Caffeic Acid Phenethyl Easter present in the Withanone compound and propolis found in ashwagandha has the ability to inhibit the activities of the MPRO enzyme present in SARS-CoV-2. According to the research team, the use of Ashwagandha and Propolis will be effective not only for therapy but also in preventing infection.
Professor Sundar, head of the Biochemical Engineering Department of IIT Delhi, says that Ayurveda has been practised in India for thousands of years. Scientists from IIT Delhi and AIST have been working on traditional knowledge of Ayurveda and ancient medicine in combination with modern technology for a decade.
Clinical trials are being conducted on many Ayurvedic medicines including Ashwagandha in India. Recently the Government of India has started a clinical trial on Ashwagandha with the help of AYUSH Ministry, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, University Grants Commission and ICMR. If this trial of treatment of corona with the help of Ayurveda is successful on humans, then it can prove to be a boon for India and all the countries of the world at the time of this epidemic.
